The Alumni Association of the 1929 – 1973 Northern Conservatory of Music will hold its bi-annual reunion on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Former faculty, students, their guests and friends of the conservatory are invited to attend. The schedule will include an open house at the Isaac Farrar Mansion known to alumni as the “Symphony House”, the annual business meeting to be held at All Souls Congregational Church in Bangor, followed by a social hour and dinner at the Muddy Rudder Restaurant in Brewer.
The Northern Conservatory was a state approved college of music granting Bachelor of Music degrees in music education, theory and performance and for many years provided the majority of music educators in the state of Maine. Its 44 year mission ended when the last class graduated in 1973.
The goal of the non-profit Alumni Association is to establish a scholarship to benefit college music students in need of financial assistance. It also sponsors the bi-annual reunions.
Detailed information will be sent to members of the association with the request that it be shared with other alumni and friends of the conservatory.
We gather in July to recognize the proud history of the conservatory, share memories and lend support to the young educators who will continue its tradition.
