BAR HARBOR — Strings are the thing on Mount Desert Island next week.

At least 175 string students in third through 12th grades from Conners-Emerson, Mount Desert Elementary School, Pemetic Elementary, Tremont Consolidated, Trenton Elementary and the Mount Desert Island High School will converge at the high school for an afternoon of rehearsals, enrichment, and making new friends through music.

The enrichment portion of the afternoon is a performance by the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra String Ensemble under the direction of Rebecca Edmondson. The group will play a variety of pieces, from classical to selections from the Beatles.
