Opening for Mr. McKinney at his Bar Harbor show will be comedian Adam Hatch of Bangor. The show is being produced by Riot Enterprises of Bangor.

Mr. McKinney was born in Portsmouth, N.H. His family later moved to Kittery. He attended high school at Traip Academy. After graduation, he decided to attend Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, now SMCC.

At age 19, he was hired by the York County Sheriff’s Department as a rural patrol deputy. He loved his job which included patrolling 14 towns and 500 square miles. He prided himself on being a good, honest cop.

After a couple of years, he began teaching the DARE program, splitting time between the streets and the classroom. Telling kids to stay away from drugs and to get on with their dreams day after day finally inspired Mr. McKinney. In the mid-1990s he moved to Boston to pursue a career in stand-up comedy.
