LEW-dicrous movie

True to that memorable line, 1998’s “The Big Lebowski,” starring Jeffrey Bridges as Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski, is a truly ludicrous film that lives on and will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor.

In the Coen Brothers’ cult film, The Dude, a former ’60s radical and political activist, who claims to have written an early version of the Port Huron Statement, plays on a bowling team with other characters including a convicted pedophile and Vietnam vet. The Dude gets beat up after he is mistaken for a tycoon whose wife owes a mobster money.
