Lawson to Host Film Showing

BLUE HILL — Brooksville resident Judith Lawson will host a showing of the film “American Challenge — Alone Against the Atlantic” on Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the Blue Hill Public Library.

The film documents the 1980 OSTAR (Observer Singlehanded Transatlantic Race) from Plymouth, England, to Newport, R.I.

Featured in the film, Lawson was one of the sailors and will share her firsthand experiences of ocean racing and how they led her to become a climate change educator and activist.

The film has been described as “The intimate onboard story of seven solo sailors facing an ultimate challenge that strips away the veneer to reveal the strength of the human spirit alone against the inexorable powers of the sea.”

Admission is free.
