Jazz vocalist Clare Bathé to celebrate three divas



BANGOR — Jazz vocalist Clare Bathé, who was the dance and vocal coach in the late Lena Horne’s show “The Lady & Her Music,” will bring her own cabaret show to the Queen City to ring in 2018.

Bathé, who performed on Broadway in “Big River” and “Jelly’s Last Jam” and toured and recorded with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, will perform “I’m Your Diva Tonight! The Music of Whitney, Tina & Aretha” at 6 and 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, at the Bangor Opera House.

Penobscot Theatre is presenting Bathé’s original tribute to the superstars who shaped and inspired her career. She will be accompanied by a full band led by music director Daryl Waters.

Local singer and actor Heather Astbury-Libby will perform backup vocals for Bathé and filling out the band will be Tom Libby on drums, Jeremy Shirland on guitar and Gaylen Smith on bass.
