Strike up the band!
Like many Maine towns, Brooklin has a community band, dating back to the 1900s, which was reestablished by Jon Hopkins in 2003. Directed by Dan Conte, the 22-member band plays at Blue Hill’s Last Night festivities, over the Fourth of July, at local nursing homes and other venues and occasions.
This holiday season, the volunteer corps of woodwind and brass will perform seasonal music, marches, jazz tunes and a carol sing-along at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Bagaduce Music’s Performance Hall at 49 South St. in Blue Hill. The family-friendly concert is free. For more info, call 374-5454 and visit bagaducemusic.org.
