Groups Aim to Provide ‘Peak’ Experience

TREMONT — An explorer, a poet and a cinematographer/photographer will share their adventures as part of the first MDI Islandwide Community Read in April.

On Tuesday, April 28, beginning at 6 p.m., the Bass Harbor Library will host a talk and slide presentation by sportswoman and explorer Midge Stafford, who has trekked Everest several times. 

Award-winning poet and writer Candice Stover will lead the Community Read book discussion of “Peak” at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Thursday, April 30 beginning at 6 p.m.

Following the community book discussion, noted cinematographer and photographer Ned Johnston will present an inside look at a film on Mount Everest being shown at Harbor House’s 38 Herrick Road facility at 7:30 p.m. following the community book discussion on Thursday, April 30.

Copies of “Peak” will be available at Southwest Harbor Library and Bass Harbor Library, and at the Old Yellow School House at Harbor House.
