Grand Fashion Show Taking Shape

ELLSWORTH — The Grand is staging the eighth “In Grand Fashion Show” where it belongs — on stage at the landmark theater on Main Street.

On Friday, Aug. 20, the plush red velvet curtains will sweep back and reveal a runway featuring new and familiar models sporting the latest fashions from: Cadillac Mountain Sports, Macey’s, The Avenue at Beals, Handworks Gallery, New Cargoes, Sea of Cotton, W. S. Emerson, The Dry Dock, Best Bib & Tucker Clothiers, The Grasshopper Shop, The Kimball Shop Boutique, Local Color, Rosen’s Store, Sara Sara’s and Ruth Foster’s.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Machias Savings Bank and Kelco are sponsoring this year’s show. All proceeds will help finance the restoration of The Grand’s historic marquee and tower. Those repairs are well under way and the project’s first phase is expected to be completed by year’s end.

WLBZ Channel 2 weatherman Steve McKay will once again emcee the show while Tim McCormick is building and contributing a special set for the fashion show.

During lunch, served while the fashion show is under way, theater director and actor Ben Layman and vocalist Rose Upton will entertain while Karen Dickes will work her magic on the piano.

Once again, Jane Bradley of Gouldsboro is heading up the show committee.

For “In Grand Fashion,” tickets cost $25 per person and the price includes an elegant box lunch and reserved seat. Limited valet service will be available.

To reserve tickets, call 667-9500 and visit www.grandonline.org.
