Concert to Feature Seven Centuries of Music in 70 Minutes

CASTINE — The Castine Arts Association will present a concert titled “Seven Centuries of Music in Seventy Minutes” at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine.


The concert will encompass music from the 14th to the 21st century and will be performed by the Bagaduce Players. The group includes musicians from the Bagaduce Music Lending Library in Blue Hill.

The performers will include mezzo-soprano Marcia Gronewold Sly, pianist Mary Cheyney Gould, violinist and violist Christine Fredenburgh, flutist Karen Dickes, viola da gamba players Julia Clayton and Allen Clayton, tenor saxophonist Craige Williamson and keyboard player Frank Fredenburgh. They will perform music by early music composers Landini, Vaillant, Dufay and Henry VIII, traditional classical composers Telemann, Mozart, Brahms and Debussy, and the modern composers Thad Jones, Luiz Bonfa and Don Raye.
