Canada’s acclaimed trio to perform

BLUE HILL — The Gryphon Trio, Canada’s eminent piano trio, will grace the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11. As part of its outreach program, the highly regarded trio also will perform at 9:30 a.m. at the Penobscot Community School.

Presented by the Blue Hill Concert Association, as part of its 40th season, the Gryphon Trio has received two Juno Awards for Classical Album of the Year. Their 15 recordings for the Analikta label include works by all the major composers and they have commissioned and premiered more than 75 new pieces. Its members, who are on the music faculty at the University of Toronto, include Annalee Patipatanakoon, violin; Roman Borys, cello; and James Parke, piano. The Trio tours regularly throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.

In celebration of the Blue Hill Concert Association’s 40th anniversary, visuals, archives and posters from the past will be displayed. Concert tickets cost $30 per person at the door or online at bluehillconcertassociation.org.
