Fiddler to bring Celtic spirit



WINTER HARBOR — U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion in 2016, Seán Heely will sweep the audience off to Ireland, Scotland and the Canadian Maritimes at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 29, in a virtual concert via Schoodic Arts for All.

The Last Friday Coffee House’s featured performer, Heely is equally at home playing a wide variety of musical genres, which include classical, Scottish, Irish, bluegrass and gypsy swing. He has given workshops and classes at camps such as Acadia Trad School. He was selected to compete in the prestigious Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann All-Ireland Senior Fiddle competition in August 2017.

Heely has performed with traditional music icons such as Irish fiddler Liz Carroll, Scottish fiddler Pete Clark and cellist virtuoso Natalie Haas. He made his classical solo debut with the Virginia Symphony in 2012 performing Mozart’s 5th Violin Concerto.
