High time

A refreshing cup of fine tea, assorted finger sandwiches and sweets are served up on Wednesdays (except Aug. 14) through July and August at Woodlawn in Ellsworth. A tradition started by the historic Black family estate’s longtime caretaker Irma Eliason, the high tea costs $22 per Woodlawn member and $25 per nonmember. High tea time dates are July 24 and 31 and Aug. 7, 21 and 28.

   Frozen fun

The Lamoine Historical Society invites the public to attend its picnic/ice cream social from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Bring your own picnic lunch. The society will provide beverages and ice cream with toppings. The society is located at 362 Lamoine Beach Road in East Lamoine. For more info, call 667-5115.

 

Go for garlic

How to grow garlic and maintain the crop is the focus of a workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, at the Deer Isle Hostel. The vegetable gardening class will be led by Anneli Carter-Sundqvist.
