A refreshing cup of fine tea, assorted finger sandwiches and sweets are served up on Wednesdays (except Aug. 14) through July and August at Woodlawn in Ellsworth. A tradition started by the historic Black family estate’s longtime caretaker Irma Eliason, the high tea costs $22 per Woodlawn member and $25 per nonmember. High tea time dates are July 24 and 31 and Aug. 7, 21 and 28.
The Lamoine Historical Society invites the public to attend its picnic/ice cream social from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Bring your own picnic lunch. How to grow garlic and maintain the crop is the focus of a workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, at the Deer Isle Hostel. The vegetable gardening class will be led by Anneli Carter-Sundqvist.
