Dreier, Shambarger Are July Artists

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Isa Dreier and Katrina Shambarger are the artists of the month at the Southwest Harbor Public Library for July.

The work of painter Isa Dreier is on display throughout the library.

Jewelry designer Katrina Shambarger’s work is displayed in the Holmes Room curio cabinet.

Isa Dreier is a former resident of Southwest Harbor. Her work embodies a joyful and exuberant perspective of the world around us, according to library spokesman Susannah Fisher. Nina Moriarty, in her book “Isa Dreier: Paintings and Drawings,” writes that Isa’s paintings “entice the viewer into new perceptions of ordinary people, gardens, vistas and still lives.”

Ms. Shambarger, a watercolorist and jewelry maker, creates wearable art. Her watercolors, mounted between glass, are either featured in their entirety or cut and arranged with other paintings to create an entirely new scene. The landscape and vivid colors of Maine inspire her, said Ms. Fisher. Ms. Shambarger is a six-year resident of Mount Desert Island, having previously lived in Ohio, Nebraska, Colorado, Guadeloupe, and France.

A closing reception is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the library.
