ELLSWORTH — “Bar Harbor Babylon: Murder, Misfortune, and Scandal on Mount Desert Island” authors Dan and Leslie Landrigan will speak about their book at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Ellsworth Public Library. Copies will available for purchase and signing.
Published by Down East Books in 2015, “Bar Harbor Babylon” is about the scandals and scoundrels on Mount Desert Island over the past century. Steady as the tide, every summer has brought a rush of seasonal residents from cities along the Eastern Seaboard to Bar Harbor and other island towns. Nothing has thrilled them more than a good scandal, according to the book.
Murderers, thieves, cheaters and scammers have all made their mark on the tiny towns of Mount Desert Island. “Bar Harbor Babylon” takes readers on a tour of the misadventures and misfortunes that punctuate the island’s wealthy and privileged past.
