Artists invited to submit work for showcase

MILBRIDGE — The Schooner Gallery of Milbridge is calling for artists to participate in the 2nd Annual “44° North” Downeast Open Art Showcase May 25 through June 22.

The showcase celebrates Maine artists who are residents and live within 44 nautical miles (50.6 miles) of Milbridge. Artists of any age and training are invited to submit their artwork inspired by the local environment.

There will be an opening reception for the show at the Schooner Gallery at 59 Main St. in Milbridge on Saturday, May 25, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Drop-off dates, in-person at the gallery, for artworks in all media are Monday and Tuesday, May 20 and 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A maximum of two pieces per person, made within the last two years and no larger than 30 inches by 40 inches will be accepted. The gallery also will accept 3-D work on a limited basis (some pedestals are available). All artwork must be labeled and wall pieces must be ready to hang with picture wires attached.
