A stream of visitors played games of chance and stuffed their bellies on the midway at the Blue Hill Fair. ELLSWORTH AMERICAN PHOTO BY JENNIFER OSBORNBLUE HILL — Mother Nature graced the annual Blue Hill Fair with plenty of sunshine and warm breezes, which contributed to a successful event.
“Great weather and steady crowds,” said Fair Director Rob Eaton. “The Demo Derby was a hit (no pun intended) and everyone that was here for the Motor Booty Affair show seemed to have had a blast.”
Eaton said the variety of food vendors offered at the fair this year was a hit.
“Our exhibit halls were filled, especially with vegetables,” Eaton said. “We had full classes in the horse and oxen pulling, and our barns were full with the usual, dairy, beef, sheep and goats.”
“The butterfly exhibit was popular, and the Red Trouser show remains a fair staple and favorite,” Eaton said.
Hancock County Sheriff Scott Kane said this year’s fair was the most peaceable he has ever worked. No arrests were made and fairgoers were behaving themselves.
