In Bucksport, nine vie for three seats

BUCKSPORT — Community spirit is alive in Bucksport if the upcoming race to fill three Town Council seats is any indication.

Nine candidates will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Six residents are competing to fill two three-year terms on the board.

The terms of councilors Paul Gauvin and Robert Carmichael Jr. expire in January.

Husband and wife candidates Rachel Paulauskas and Matthew Paulauskas are each running for a three-year term, as is former longtime town clerk Kathy Downes.

Residents Edward Rankin Jr., Nancy Minott and former councilor Paul Rabs are also seeking three-year seats on the council.

Bucksport voters also will elect a candidate to complete the remainder of former councilor David Kee’s term.

Kee was elected to a three-year term last November but decided to retire before his term was up.

Incumbent councilor Robert Carmichael Jr. is seeking that two-year seat, as are Joseph Davanzo and James Morrison.

In other business, Peter Clair is running unopposed for a three year seat on the Regional School Unit 25 (RSU 25) School Board.
