A Faithful Correspondent—For 50 Years
   For years Ted Blaisdell just couldn’t keep his name out of Ivy Young’s correspondent’s column in The Ellsworth American. Each time someone came to visit, Young phoned to ask who was there. Each time he left his garage open with his car gone, she phoned to ask where he had been.

   1764: Original grant given to Nathan Jones, Francis Shaw and Robert Gould.
   1789:
Gouldsboro organizes as a town
   1796:
Gen. David Cobb builds a home at Gouldsboro Point, and works to built wharves, storehouses, saw mills and ships.
   Unknown:
Date of the erection of the first town house, “the scene of all public gatherings.” Burned in 1883.
   1878-1882:
Town enjoys silver mining boom.
   1895:
Winter Harbor breaks away from Gouldsboro and becomes its own town.
