ORONO — Ending the Maine swimming season, the Mount Desert Island YMCA Sharks nabbed a fifth-place overall finish at the Maine Swimming Winter Combined Championships at University of Maine at Orono on March 5 through 8.

The boys placed fifth combined, and the girls finished in eighth with their combined score. Both the boys’ and girls’ 10-and-unders came in second place in their age group. The 11-and-12-year-old girls finished in ninth place. In the 13-and-14-year-old group, the girls finished in 15th and the boys placed fifth. Finally, in the 15-and-over class, the girls took 13th and the boys got fourth.
