Free Thanksgiving Dinner at the Riverside

ELLSWORTH — The Riverside Café, in conjunction with the Emmaus Shelter, is offering a free Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Riverside Manager Danielle Chatto of Ellsworth said diners need not make reservations and all are welcome.

Last year 150 people had their Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant on Main Street.

“They had the dinner at the Emmaus Shelter for 11 to 12 years, but the space is small and people were eating in the hallway,” Chatto said. “We have plenty of room here.”

She said the food is donated and includes a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, ham, potatoes, vegetables and side dishes and a wide array of desserts.

There will be door prizes donated by the local community.

Music will be provided by internationally known concert pianist Masanobu Ikeyima.

“The dinner is for people in need, people who might not have families to go to on Thanksgiving and who just want to be around people,” Chatto said. “You just have to show up.”

She said meals also will be packaged and can be picked up for those who are homebound.
