Bomb Threat at Bucksport Middle School

BUCKSPORT — Police and fire personnel responded to a bomb threat found scrawled on a Bucksport Middle School bathroom wall Monday.

Superintendent Jim Boothby said the threat was discovered at about 1:50 p.m. After consulting with police, school officials decided the message did not pose a sufficient threat to evacuate the school. Students were released as usual at 2:30 p.m.

Bucksport police officers and firefighters did not turn up anything suspicious during a thorough search of the school. The building was in lockdown overnight. A staff member stayed on site all night.

Student and employee bags were searched Tuesday morning as a precaution.
