Trap Cutting Leads to Death Threat



ELLSWORTH — A Sullivan lobsterman who said he had his traps cut in Frenchman Bay was arrested after he threatened to kill a Sorrento lobsterman and blow up his house Friday, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department reported.

 

Deputy Shane Campbell arrested Bruce Merchant, 44, on charges of terrorizing and criminal threatening.

Merchant is free on bail.

Gouldsboro Police Officer Jim Malloy assisted with the investigation.
