Longtime counselor opens private practice in Ellsworth



After 20 years as a substance use counselor in schools and treatment centers, Kip Young is launching a private practice in Ellsworth called Atlantic Counseling.

ELLSWORTH — A new counseling practice has opened its doors in the city with the goal of helping people who are struggling with substance use.

Kip Young, a licensed substance abuse counselor who has worked with individuals, families, small groups and area schools for the past 20 years, has opened Atlantic Counseling at 56 Church St. in Ellsworth.

Respect and compassion are the guiding principles of his approach, according to Young. He said his motto is “Conversation, not Confrontation.”
