Blue Hill gets grant to improve high-speed Internet access

BLUE HILL — The town of Blue Hill has a won a $124,952 grant from the ConnectMe Agency to improve access to high-speed Internet in underserved portions of Blue Hill. That includes the Turkey Farm Road and Parker Point Road.

The ConnectMe Authority’s mission is to facilitate broadband access throughout Maine.

No town match is required.

Jim Schatz, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, announced at Friday’s meeting that Blue Hill would have a two-week waiting period before it receives the money. The waiting period serves as a time for other parties to appeal the agency’s decision to give Blue Hill the grant.

Time Warner Cable Co. is expanding its high-speed Internet availability in the area and will partner with Blue Hill.
