Welcoming spring

Works by Brahms, Schubert and Franz Schreker are on the program of the Blue Hill Concert Association’s final concert, featuring violinist Ariadne Daskalakis and pianist Anthony Spiri at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, at the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill.

Daskalakis and Spiri recently recorded the complete Brahms Violin Sonatas for the West German Radio. Last fall, the duo were artists in residence at The Juilliard School in New York. Spiri also toured the Northeast with singer Bernarda Fink and gave guest lectures in England, while Daskalakis toured in Suzhou, China, and in Italy and gave further performances in Berlin, Cologne and northern Germany.

Daskalakis has collaborated with the Prague Chamber Orchestra, and was hailed by German MDR Radio as a “universal specialist” for her recording of Vivaldi Concerti with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra on the Tacet label.

Since 2001, Spiri has been a professor of piano chamber music at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. He gives master classes and lectures worldwide.

Tickets cost $30 per person. To see the complete concert program and learn more, visit www.bluehillconcert association.org. For more info, call 348-9495.
