Elizabeth (Jacobs) "Lib" West, 55, wife of the late
Robert A. West, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Eastern Maine Medical
Center after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 5, 1943, in Pembroke,
N.C., the daughter of Hugh and Ruby (Jacobs) Jacobs.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
"Lib" enjoyed traveling to North Carolina to visit and spend
time with her family and friends there. She enjoyed doing things for
others.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, James West and his wife, Averill;
a daughter, Brenda Page and her husband, Harold, all of Sorrento; five
grandchildren, Chet and Tisha Johnson, Hillary and Whitney Page, and
James Robert West; a sister, Mary Ellen Hitt and her husband, Bruce,
of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Hal B. Jacobs of Pembroke, N.C., and
Johnny H. Jacobs and his wife, Easter, of Anderson; her mother-in-law,
Winnifred West of Sorrento; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lib will also be missed by two very special friends, Alice Sargent and
Troy Jellison, both of Sorrento. In addition to her husband, Robert,
she was predeceased by a daughter, Ruby Lynn Ruff; a sister, Helen
Faye Williams; and three brothers, Ecile, Jerry and Junior Jacobs; and
a very close friend, Irene Bunker.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at
the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth,
with Pastor Michael W. Page officiating. Interment will be at Doane’s
Point Cemetery, Sorrento. Gifts in memory of Lib may be sent to the
