WATERVILLE —
Several students from Coastal Martial Arts in
Washington and Hancock counties turned in strong
performances at the recent Battle of Maine.
The
international level tournament gives students
have the opportunity to compete for trophies and
advanced standings in the Krane, IPPONE, NASKA,
and SMART organizations.
This year’s
event drew more than 600 competitors from New
England, Canada, Korea and the United States.
Competitors
representing Coastal Martial Arts at the
tournament came from Beddington, Gouldsboro,
Cherryfield, Jonesboro, Machias, Milbridge and
Steuben.
In the youth
divisions, Vincent Pitts of Beddington earned a
fifth place medal in kata; Patrik Orcutt of
Steuben earned a third place trophy in kata;
Keith Robinson of Steuben earned a second place
trophy in kata; Emily Wyler earned a fifth place
medal in kata; Jeramiah Pitts of Beddington
earned fifth place medals in both fighting and
kata; and Kevin Robinson of Steuben earned a
third place trophy in fighting and a fourth
place trophy in kata.
In the adult
divisions, Melissa DeLorenzo earned a second
place trophy in kata; Cody Jourdet earned a
fourth place trophy in fighting; Jeremy
Cavaretta of Gouldsboro earned a second place
trophy in black belt fighting and second place
trophy in self defense; and Shihan Ruth Moore
earned a first place trophy in senior black belt
fighting, a second place trophy in weapons kata,
a second place trophy in self defense, and a
third place trophy in kata.
Coastal Martial
Arts currently holds classes in Machias and
Milbridge.
